March 2022 recap

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here, so let’s take the opportunity to defeat the point of Twitter by making a somewhat longform post to recap in chronological order what’s been happening in the Java Cake Games world between my last tweet and now.

For libGDX Jam 19, I uploaded Slimy Machines. It’s unfinished crap. However, I’m not going to try and completely hide it from existence, because we all have our ups and downs. I hate the illusion that everyone performs at their best all the time.

I’ve updated my itch.io profile with a Ukrainian flag background. I’ve seen redirectrussia.org, and no doubt other stuff exists to block Russian visitors from websites. But I’m not going to play that game. The Russian civilians have done nothing to be barred from my pages.

Not long after this, I added Catch Hacks to the bottom of my profile. I was credited in that game despite having no direct involvement in it, so I figured I may as well link to it somewhere.

What’s up next? Well, there’s another libGDX jam this month. I won’t blow the other submissions out of the water, but I’ve been toying with a couple ideas. Learned some new things and can develop one of these ideas into an emergency submission if need be.
